About Us

No organization lobbies more effectively on behalf of active duty, Reserve and veteran Sea Services personnel (Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard) than FRA. The Association understands the needs of enlisted personnel and has served as their voice on Capitol Hill for more than 96 years. FRA was the first organization to exclusively represent the interests of enlisted personnel before Congress and remains committed to bringing their perspective to lawmakers on Capitol Hill. FRA has been working to preserve and protect benefits and quality-of-life programs for Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard personnel and their families since 1924. Almost every state in the U.S. has at least one FRA branch, and several branches are located overseas. The FRA branches foster camaraderie among fellow sea service members and strive to keep Shipmates informed about changes in local policy as well as to support other local veteran and youth activities. The FRA Education Foundation provides more than $90,000 in scholarship funds each year to sea service personnel, FRA members and their dependents. The funds are applicable toward tuition at trade schools, community colleges and four-year universities. The FRA facilitates relief to fellow Shipmates during their times of need. The FRA also has veteran service officers who assist veterans with filing their claims and appeals to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
