Shadowlands, a romantic drama based on the true story of celebrated children's author C.S. Lewis who discovered love late in life, poses questions about God and love, life and loss, pain and suffering, and finding those things we most value.
The show runs four weeks from Jan 14 through Feb. 6, 2011, at PowPAC, Poway's Community Theater. The play is directed by Jay Mower and produced by Joel Colbourn and Lynn Wolsey.
Written by William Nicholson, this Broadway hit tells the story of Lewis, an Oxford professor and author of The Chronicles of Narnia and The Screwtape Letters, and Joy Gresham, an American intellectual, writer, and poet.
Lewis has carved out a comfortable life for himself as a professor, lecturer and author of books on every subject from religion to fantasy. His many readers send him letters telling him how magical his stories are. Quite unexpectedly, Lewis meets one of his more enthusiastic fans Joy Gresham face to face. She steams into his life with her son, Douglas, in tow, having left her abusive husband. Douglas one passion is for Lewis "magical" stories of the kingdom of Narnia.
