Students with school I.D. receive the member price, and youth ages 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door or online. About Marilyn McPhie: Marilyn McPhie became a storyteller by choice?when her son?s preschool gave her a choice of cleaning bathrooms or telling stories. A professional teller since 1985, she has a fondness for old stories with new twists. A National Storytelling Network state liaison, she was featured at the Exchange Place at the National Storytelling Festival and regularly charms festival, school, corporate and conference audiences across the country and beyond with her engaging tales. She?s the president of Storytellers of San Diego and a member of the San Diego Folk Heritage board. About Fred Laskowski: Fred Laskowski loves to tell stories from around the world, from folk tales to true tales. He especially likes to tell stories of magic, mystery, and transforming power. His program of stories of peace and non-violence in a tumultuous world is particularly relevant today. Fred is a Marriage and Family Therapist currently working in the public schools, where his storytelling abilities enliven and enrich his interactions with the students. As a performer, he has been featured at numerous public and private events, including the Sam Hinton Folk Heritage Festival, the University of San Diego Adult Storytelling Concert Series, and Rebecca?s Coffee house monthly storytelling series. About John January and Linda Berry: John and Linda are quickly making themselves known on in the California music scene. From smooth and silky to rough and tumble, John?s virtuoso guitar is a perfect complement to Linda?s expressive vocals ? and vice versa! Linda met John on stage around 3 years ago. The blues being the universal language it is, they began performing together in that moment, tapping into the undeniable chemistry apparent to all. As destiny would have it their musical love would lead John and Linda into romance and a compulsion to demonstrate in song that regardless of your age or circumstances love can feel new and right. The couple perform as a duo and with their band JJ Crew. San Diego Folk Heritage is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the folk arts in Southern California.
