8th ANNUAL OCEANSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL, OCT 7 - 25

October is National Art and Humanities Month. Here is your chance to enjoy great music and support local youth musicians! The 8th annual OMFest, Oceanside Music Festival - sponsored by Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, members of Americans for the Arts - opens with a gala scholarship fundraiser, and follows with five great concerts this October. This event is held each year to raise funds for performing artists from local high schools of North San Diego county. Oceanside Music Festival will present a variety of performances including jazz, country, big band, high school showcase, liturgical music (see schedule below) all taking place between October 7 - 25. Oct 11, Global Spirit, 2:00 pm at St Mary's Star of the Sea Church, 609 Pier View Way, Oceanside Featuring international folk and liturgical songs from St. John of Damascus Orthodox Church Choir; North Coast Singers with Palomar College Choral, and Zhena Folk Chorus (Eastern European folklore music)

Wed. Oct 21, American Country, 7:00 pm Sunshine Brooks Theatre, 217 No. Coast Highway, Oceanside Featuring Sara Petite, and other local country and Americana musicians TBA

Thurs. Oct 22, High School Showcase, 7:00 pm Truax Theatre, 400 Rancho Del Oro, Oceanside, CA An evening of vocal performances from top North County high school musical theatre groups, show choirs, and chamber singers. Truax Theater is located on the El Camino High School Campus

Sun. Oct 25, Big Band, 2:00 pm Mission San Luis Rey, Rancho del Oro and Mission Ave, Oceanside CA Tom Morrow's Oceanside Society Orchestra performs American songbook and dance music
