DESCRIPTION:PowPAC will hold auditions for the romantic comedy ?Skin Deep? on Monday\, Jan. 17\, and Tuesday\, Jan. 18\, at 7 p.m. Auditions will take place at PowPAC?s theater\, located upstairs in the Lively Center at 13250 Poway Road in Poway.\n\n\n\nRehearsals are Monday through Thursday at the theatre\, 7 to 9:30 p.m. The show runs for four weeks from March 4 to March 27\, 2011. The play is directed by Sherrie Colbourn.\n\n\n\nWritten by Jon Lonoff\, ?Skin Deep? is about a large\, lovable\, lonely heart named Maureen Mulligan\, who gives romance one last shot on a blind date\, set up by her older sister\, with the amiable but awkward Joe Spinelli. Maureen relies on sharp wit and wisecracks to cover her feelings and insecurities\, especially about her looks and her weight in particular. Joe can?t contain his eagerness\, which makes him clumsy and blunt.  Somehow they are perfect for each other\, even if they won?t admit it.\n\n\n\nMaureen Mulligan (early to mid-30s): An overweight yet curvy\, earthy\, attractive\, lovable lonely heart.  She lives in Forest Hills\, Queens\, is a devout Catholic and works as a dental hygienist.  She has a very sharp wit. Comic timing is important for this role\, as well as the role of Sheila.\n\n\n\nSheila Whiting (mid- to late 40s): Maureen?s very beautiful sister\, slim\, fashionable\, flamboyant and full of advice.  She grew up with Maureen and six more brothers and sisters in Queens and went on to marry old Connecticut money and move to New York?s Upper East Side.  She genuinely wants what she presumes is best for everyone. She is addicted to plastic surgery as she tries to stave off her 50s.\n\n\n\nSquire Whiting Jr. (late 40s to late 50s): A handsome ?government relations? lawyer in the prestigious family firm and Sheila?s husband. Full of charm and self-mocking humor.  He doesn?t take himself ? or much else ? too seriously\, but he is growing impatient with Sheila and her non-stop need to ?change? herself. He wants her to be happy to grow old with him. \n\n\n\nJoe Spinelli (mid-30s to mid-40s): An endearing\, unlucky\, lonely\, average-looking guy from Brooklyn\,  down to earth\, with a good sense of humor.  He?s a blue-collar guy interested in a longterm relationship with a woman who he is not only attracted to\, but who he can talk to.
