On Friday February 27th, San Diego Folk Heritage invites you to an evening of old time music featuring Americana roots act Sidewinder, with Los Angelesbased western performer Rodger Maxwell. The all ages event will take place at Templar?s Hall (14134 Midland Road, Poway, CA 92064). Admission is $15 for members and $18 standard, available at the door or o?nine.? About S?idewinder:? M?ark, Ken, Tom, and Bruce have been working hard to expand their repertoire of ?Original Roots Americana? music to include new Sidewinder Tom Wolverton?s tasteful instrumentals, as well as adding his high vocals to their songs. Tom?s excellent compositions go along with originals by Mark and by Bruce. Sidewinder lead guitarist and lead vocalist Ken Wilcox just finished working on wellknown Western artist Eddy Harrison?s next album. Ken?s production abilities have been put to good use not only with Eddy Harrison?s album, but on two albums by award winning Cowboy Poet Les Buffham, and coSidewinder band mate Bruce Huntington?s new album ?California Trails.? Bruce?s album has climbed up to the number seven spot for the most played Western album on Western radio. Bruce Huntington?s song ?Ghosts of Tombstone,? as recorded by Trails ?n? Rails, has been played daily at the end of the Shoot Out At The OK Coral reenactment in Tombstone, Arizona. For five years, tourists walking out of the show hear Bruce?s song about legendary ghosts in ?The Town Too Tough To Die.? Mark Jackson, lead singer and guitarist for Sidewinder, reports that he is working hard to complete his first novel, an epic tale of adventure across the West in the 1800's. We expect a number of songs to come out of stories in his book. About R?odger Maxwell:? R?odger is an award winning songwriter and cowboy and western performer. Rodger?s show recipe is an eclectic mix that includes a dash of traditional and updated trail songs, a few cups of finely sifted original and contemporary songs, a pound of novelty tunes, as well as a hefty sprinkle of cowboy swing that will make you want to ignore your doctor?s advice. He blends his mellow descriptive baritone voice with his unique guitar styling. Rodger lives in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles CA. He performs as a solo act, a member of several groups, and as a backup player and singer. San Diego Folk Heritage is an allvolunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the folk arts in Southern California.
